Return to Understanding Systems Engineering
Previous: SW/HW Development and Field Installation
Next: Subsystem Verification
Unit/Device Testing Step Description
In this step the software and hardware components are individually verified and then integrated to produce higher level assemblies or subsystems.
Purpose
The purpose of this step is to test the software modules, and hardware components or assemblies as they are developed.
Activities
In software development this step is usually done iteratively with the previous development step (as in code a bit, test a bit).
For hardware, this lower level testing is usually performed by the manufacturer or company building the components or assemblies.
